Meet Pastor Harris

Pastor Harris is an ordained deacon in the AME Church, Rev. Deborah Harris has dedicated her life to spreading the message of love, compassion, and inclusivity.  Her journey is a testament to grace and mercy.

She previously served on the ministerial staff at Greater Mt. Nebo AME Church,.  She served in various ministries including evangelism, social media, women's ministry , and hospitality.  Each role has allowed her to touch lives and foster connections, amplifying the voice of faith.

Rev. Debbie has a heart for chaplaincy and has served as a chaplain for many years including in local hospitals, hospice centers and for youth and young adult groups. She believes we can all see ourselves in the story of Jesus and Jesus in our story.  She believes in the redemptive power of the blood of Jesus.

Rev. Debbie was appointed pastor of Rivers of Life AME Church by Bishop James Levert Davis at the 74th Session of the Washington Annual Conference. Despite her busy schedule, Rev. Harris remains deeply rooted in her family and community.  A devoted wife and mother of two, she finds joy and strength in the love of her family.

At the heart of Rev. Harris’ journey lies her favorite scripture, 1 John 4:7-8, which encapsulates her belief in the transformative power of love: "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.  He who does not love does not know God, for God is love."- Pastor Deborah Harris
